What is happening at Leicester City?

Terry Lane - Wednesday 12.03.08, 12:34pm

Leicester City drop into the Coca-Cola League Championship relegation zone for the first time this season after losing 1-0 to Southampton last night.

Listening to BBC Radio 5 Live’s 606 football phone-in programme last night there appeared to be a split between Leicester fans blaming the manager - Ian Holloway, the players and the owner - Milan Mandaric.

Those backing Ian Holloway suggested he is trying to get the team to play attractive football and more common was the suggestion that he needs time to work things out.

Ian Holloway was appointed manager of Leicester City on 22nd November 2007, less than four months ago, after a successful reign at Plymouth Argyle.

He was given a three and a half year contract and made history when he became the first Leicester City manager in over 50 years to win his first league game in charge, beating Bristol City 2-0.

Including caretaker periods, there has been 7 different management teams at Leicester in the past 12 months. That is amazing. From the outside looking in, I think criticism needs to be focussed on Milan Mandaric and also the players themselves, who are the common denominator here.

Leicester are now in the bottom three and have played more games than the teams below and directly above them. Things are looking gloomy for the Foxes. But surely everyone can see stability is the missing ingredient.

I’ve been trying to convince myself it is all a bad dream but visiting your site has brought all the stark awful reality back to me. I completely agree with you about stability being the problem and there ain’t no sustainable quick fix. Danger is Milan will get impatient or feel he has to be seen to be acting.
Please don’t let Olly be sacked and more than that please please don’t let us get relegated
